History, according to Roger Passeron:
"In October 1942 this sculpture, in bronze, was presented for the first time at the Peggy Guggenheim Gallery in New York for the inaugural exhibition of Art of this century under the title Two Children. This sculpture, more commonly referred to by the artist as Brother and Sister, and Mantes Couplées, also from 1942, are the only sculptures that were made in bronze during the artist's stay in America. (...)
In 1986, two larger prints of different dimensions were decided upon. The larger of these two versions was presented with the enlarged versions of La Chrysalide, Femme tourmentée, Femme servant de table, Minotaure I, Minotaure II, Femme en enlever sa chemise, Dans la forêt, Femme- feuille, Répulsion, Saturne, Bacchantes and Hybris, at the FIAC 86 exhibition from October 25 to November 2, 1986 at the Grand Palais in Paris on the Due Ci de Rome gallery stand. This magnificent sculpture is one of the most monumental that the artist has created."
